Concussions can be quite scary, and are a natural consequence of playing sports. Unfortunately, we can't fully prevent the risk of concussions while playing sports, but we can mitigate the risk. Here is a link to an in-depth guide about concussions in youth (and adults), including information about the risk of concussions in specific sports, how we can be safer, and also more information about the recovery and treatment process. Check it out: cordiscosaile.com/concussions-in-youth/

mdwsc non-discrimination policy

MDWSC does not and shall not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion (creed), age, national origin (ancestry), disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender identify, or military status, in any of its activities or operations. We are committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming environment for all women who want to play recreational soccer.

Furthermore, MDWSC welcomes anyone who identifies as female.  We abide by the US Adult Soccer Association and the International Olympic Committee rules. These policies request that FTM trans athletes have:
  • had gender reassignment surgery
  • legal recognition of their assigned gender
  • have at least two years of hormone therapy
Above all, we do not want to be an obstacle to recreational participation. Should an issue arise with a potential team member, the team manager can bring the concern to the Board to facilitate an agreement.  We seek to respect all backgrounds, lifestyles, and personal choices, and we take it on faith that players who compete under these rules are doing so not to gain a competitive advantage, but to enjoy participating in a manner in which they are comfortable. We do not tolerate unsportsmanlike behavior and have trained referees to ensure that our league supports safe, recreational play.
